The Piper of Hamburg (Fairytale 2)

Remember last time, when I told you my next Fairytale wouldn't be so long? Well, I seem to have a trouble containing myself, since this one is only a bit shorter.

In any case, this is another tale that I was bound to do, with its prominent theme about lost childhood.

And don't forget to open each caption in a new tab to check them on full size.

AND PLEASE COMMENT. What did you think of this? What other Fairytales are you expecting?

  1. Wow, yet another awesome adaptation. I have to admit, I didn't even think of the Pied Piper as a possible story to use, but now that I think about it, it makes plenty of sense. I certainly liked the twist you did with the Piper taking away the rats and children in this story. The nicer part is that those extra years the girls have gotten will eventually be removed, which is an undiscussed problem with AP stories. Personally, I don't mind long stories if the stories are well-written like this and the previous Fairytale.

There is a looong list of fairy tales I can name, but stories than modified to match what your Fairytale series is about shortens it quite a bit. Personally, my favorite fairy tale is Beauty and the Beast, which ought to be simple to do. I suppose the Frog Prince could work along similar lines. I'm pretty sure I won't be the only one to suggest Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, but I might as well be the first. Jack and the Beanstalk could be adapted, though I think that would focus more on Male AP. Rapunzel would be interesting to work with.

But I think a couple of choice selections would be some of the stories written by Hans Cristian Anderson. Of course, the most likely to be suggested from those would be the Little Mermaid and the Ugly Duckling. I'm curious as to whether Thumbelina could be adapted, but maybe not within this context. The Snow Queen would be prime material and I'm not just saying it because of Frozen. If you've actually read the original version, you'll see that it is a coming-of-age story that metaphorically covers the passage of childhood and literally says at the end that they've grown up. It would make for a rather lengthy story, but I'm sure you can find a way of working with it.

    1. In my original outline of the Fairytale series, I have every story you've suggested except Frog Prince and Rapunzel.

I think I'll do next Ugly Duckling of one of the others.

    2. To be honest, I was spitballing when I mentioned the Frog Prince and Rapunzel, partially because Disney made good movies based on both of them. But if you can work those into stories for this site, I'd be interested. I'm more curious about how the Ugly Duckling will go.

  2. Another home run with this fairytale story. Keep them coming! I know they must take a long time to write due to their length but they are worth the wait!

  5. as always, you surprise me how well you reboot fairy tales into this kind of stories I love so much. Lenghty, original and of course with a lot of process :D

I pretty much was going to say most of the stories BLZBub suggested, although I am a bit curious about how could you twist Little Red Riding Hood , although the Ugly Duckling seems to be the most anticipated to me.
The swan lake could work as well, with the girl becoming a woman once the spell is broken, or I don't know...you know how to make things unexpectedly pleasing xD

    1. If you look, you'll see that Little Red Riding Hood was actually adapted as the very first story of this site, though I would like to see either a sequel or a possible rewrite.

I considered Swan Lake as well, though I wasn't sure how it could fit into the AP theme.

    2. Yes, I coincidentally started this site with a Fairytale, and in fact it had two sequels, one of the one month anniversary of the blog and another for the one year anniversary.

It's an unrelated story, though, and it doesn't belong to the series I'm writing now. A new version of that tale will be eventually written, with a very different concept.

I hadn't thought about Swan Lake. We shall see.
